Terms of use

The plain-language terms for the California Eats app and this website. Last updated October 12, 2026.

What the app is

California Eats is a free guide to restaurants in California. It is provided as is, for personal use, without charge and without warranties of any kind.

Check before you go

Restaurants open, close, change their hours and change their menus. What a place serves and when it opened are what the place or a named source said when we checked in October 2026. We work to keep the lists right, but we can't promise that any listing is current or complete. Call the restaurant before you make the trip.

Inspection results

Inspection results are each county's own, shown as the county recorded them at the latest inspection. We don't compute or change them, and we don't compare counties. One inspection is a snapshot of one day; conditions may have changed since. For the official record, check with the county's environmental health department. No county endorses this app.

Other people's content

Ratings, reviews, hours and photos in each place card come from Apple Maps and are Apple's and its providers', under Apple's terms. Restaurant names and trademarks belong to their owners. MICHELIN and the MICHELIN Guide are trademarks of Michelin; James Beard Foundation and James Beard Award are trademarks of the James Beard Foundation. California Eats is not affiliated with any restaurant, chain, award body or government agency.
