New Orleans po-boys

7 po-boy shops for New Orleans' sandwich on crackly French bread: roast beef debris, fried shrimp, oysters or catfish, “dressed” with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo. Each was checked in fall 2026 against a 2025–26 source.

Dressed or plain

A po-boy is built on New Orleans French bread, light inside with a crust that shatters. Order it “dressed” for lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayonnaise. Two places here are MICHELIN Bib Gourmands (Parkway Bakery & Tavern and Domilise's), and the backstreet shops of Jefferson Parish keep their own following. Many close early or on Sundays, so check the hours.

The list at a glance

Towns with the most: New Orleans (6), Metairie (1).

Our method: a place made the list only if a 2025 or 2026 source backed it up (its own site or menu, a dated local news story or an official tourism listing) and its street address matched. No current source, or a website gone dark, and it stayed off. Review sites played no part, and places run by region and town rather than by anybody's score. Po-boy shops and boudin counters keep short hours and sell out, and crawfish is seasonal, so check before you drive.

On your phone, Bayou Eats orders this list by how far each place is from you, and a tap opens Apple Maps' live card with hours, photos and directions.
