Terms of use
The plain-language terms for the Michigan Eats app and this website. Last updated 2026-10-22.
What the app is
Michigan Eats is a free guide to restaurants in Michigan. It is provided as is, for personal use, without charge and without warranties of any kind.
Check before you go
Restaurants open, close, change their hours and change their menus, and many pasty shops and bakeries keep short or seasonal hours. Dishes and founding years are what each place or a named source said when we checked in fall 2026. We work to keep the lists right, but we can't promise that any listing is current or complete. Call the restaurant before you make the trip.
Inspection results and public records
The app and this site show the Detroit Health Department's inspection results as the City publishes them: whether a place was in compliance at its latest routine inspection, and the violations cited, with the date. Michigan has no statewide grade, and we compute none. An inspection is a snapshot of one day. Food-service licenses come from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's list of the establishments local health departments license, and Detroit liquor licenses from the City's copy of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission list. The State provides its data "as is" and makes no warranty of its accuracy or completeness. For official records, ask the agency itself.
Other people's content
Ratings, reviews, hours and photos in each place card come from Apple Maps and are Apple's and its providers', under Apple's terms. Restaurant names and trademarks belong to their owners. James Beard Foundation and James Beard Award are trademarks of the James Beard Foundation. Michigan Eats is not affiliated with any restaurant, chain, award body or government agency.
